For green hydrogen at scale, where a single large electrolyser facility might require 500 MW to 1 GW of dedicated electricity supply, 765 kV infrastructure is not overengineering. The choice of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) for both the Pendurthi and Khammam-II substations also reflects the design intent.
