In August, the Solar Energy Corporation of India started a market consultation that got very little attention outside the trade press. It was not a tender. It was not a policy announcement. SECI simply began asking, formally, where India’s carbon dioxide is: how much of it, at what purity, in which locations, from which industrial processes.
A clean energy agency going looking for CO₂ sounds like a contradiction until you remember what green methanol and green urea actually are.
Hydrogen carries no carbon. Two of its most valuable derivatives do. Methanol is a carbon-bearing molecule, so it cannot be made from hydrogen alone. Urea needs ammonia and carbon dioxide both, and is in fact the largest chemical consumer of CO₂ on the planet. You can build every electrolyser on your wish list and still not have a green methanol or green urea industry until you can answer three fairly unglamorous questions: where does the carbon come from, how does it get to the plant, and will its origin satisfy the certification regime of the market you intend to sell into?
For anyone whose job involves sourcing, specifying or financing any part of this chain, that consultation was the moment the shortlist got longer.
What widened, exactly
Eighteen months ago, an Indian hydrogen sourcing exercise meant electrolysers, renewable power and an EPC contractor. The list now runs considerably further.
Carbon capture and purification equipment. CO₂ compression, storage and transport. Methanol synthesis technology. Certification and traceability services, because export buyers are not paying for the word green, they are paying for provenance of the electricity, the hydrogen and the carbon. Port and bunkering infrastructure. Storage and handling for ammonia and methanol. Safety instrumentation. Water treatment. Grid and firming solutions. And underneath all of it, the engineering firms who can integrate the pieces into something a lender will finance.
SECI’s own direction of travel makes the point. The agency opened stakeholder consultation on green methanol production and supply in May, has signalled an initiative of around 0.5 million tonnes per annum, and has been reported by S&P Global as working towards an e-methanol tender of 500,000 tonnes a year or more, with part of the prospective demand tied to European marine fuel requirements. Its earlier 0.724 MMTPA green ammonia tender has already produced commercial agreements, including Oriana Power’s TrueRE contracting 60,000 tonnes a year for ten years with Madhya Bharat Agro Products as end offtaker.
This is a market building backwards from the customer rather than forwards from the electrolyser. That is the mature way to do it. It also means the number of categories a buyer has to evaluate has roughly doubled in under two years.
The problem with evaluating a market one company at a time
Anyone who has run a vendor search knows how this goes. You open twenty browser tabs. You request twelve capability decks. You take eight introductory calls, six of which establish only that the company does not do what you needed. Three months later you have a shortlist you are not fully confident in, assembled entirely from material each vendor wrote about itself.
There is a reason exhibitions have survived every technology that was supposed to replace them. Two days on a floor lets you compare suppliers standing next to each other, ask the engineer rather than the salesperson, see equipment instead of a rendering, and meet four categories of supplier you did not know you needed until you walked past them.
IGHA – Hyvolution India 2026 is built for exactly that kind of visit. On 17 and 18 November at India Expo Mart in Delhi NCR, it is set to convene over 150 exhibitors, more than 7,000 trade visitors, 500-plus organisations and participation from over 30 countries, jointly organised by GH2 India and GL events with the support of the Government of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Who should be walking this floor
If your work touches any of the following, the two days will pay for themselves.
Fertiliser and refining professionals, because your sectors are already contracting. IFFCO, Coromandel International, Paradeep Phosphates and others have signed green ammonia offtakes under SIGHT, and Indian Oil, Numaligarh, HPCL and BPCL have concluded green hydrogen tenders for refining, with Numaligarh’s bid clearing at ₹279 per kilogram.
Steel, shipping and mobility teams, because green DRI steelmaking, ammonia and methanol bunkering and fuel-cell fleets are where hydrogen becomes visible infrastructure rather than an industrial input.
Project developers and EPC firms looking for technology partners, and technology providers looking for the projects. Financiers and insurers who need to understand the risk profile before the next round. Port authorities, certification bodies, consultants, researchers and policy teams.
And anyone in procurement who has been asked to produce a carbon capture or CO₂ logistics shortlist for a methanol project, and has discovered how few of those conversations happen over email.
What the two days are structured to give you
Beyond the exhibition floor, the programme runs across three stages and a dedicated roundtable room: a Plenary Conference for policy and capital, a Technical Conference for engineering depth, sectoral sessions in The Arena organised around fertilisers, shipping, refining, steel and mobility, and closed Leadership Roundtables.
The agenda is shaped by a Strategic Advisory Committee whose members include a former Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, a former Chairman of Indian Oil, the chairmen of two major port authorities, the former Director for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells at the US Department of Energy, and chief technology leadership from AM Green, ACME, Avaada, Hero Future Energies and John Cockerill Greenko. It is a useful signal of the altitude at which the sessions are pitched.
One piece of practical advice from people who attend a lot of these. Do not arrive and wander. Register early, look at the exhibitor list as it fills, identify the ten or twelve companies that map to your actual priorities, and request meetings before you travel. The delegates who get the most out of two days are the ones who arrived with a list.
India’s hydrogen economy has outgrown the electrolyser. It now runs from renewable power through hydrogen and captured carbon into molecules that ships burn and farms use, and it is being assembled by people who mostly have not met each other yet. In November, a good number of them will be in the same hall.

Frequently Asked Questions
When and where is IGHA – Hyvolution India 2026, and who can attend?
IGHA – Hyvolution India 2026 takes place on 17 and 18 November 2026 at India Expo Mart, Delhi NCR. It is open to trade visitors and registered delegates from across the green hydrogen value chain, and is set to welcome more than 7,000 trade visitors, over 1,000 delegates, 500-plus organisations and participation from more than 30 countries. Trade visitor registration is open at igha-hyvolution.com.
Who should attend as a trade visitor?
The floor is built for professionals evaluating, specifying, financing or buying anything in the hydrogen chain: procurement and technical teams from fertiliser, refining, steel, shipping and mobility companies; project developers and EPC firms; electrolyser, carbon capture, compression and storage suppliers; port authorities; investors and lenders; certification and testing bodies; consultants, researchers and policy professionals. If hydrogen affects your next project, investment or technology decision, the event is directly relevant.
How do I register to visit IGHA – Hyvolution India 2026?
Trade visitor registration is completed online at igha-hyvolution.com. Registering early gives you access to agenda and speaker announcements as they are released, along with the exhibitor list as it is confirmed, which makes it considerably easier to plan meetings before you travel. For delegate passes and conference access, write to conference@igha-hyvolution.com.
What will I be able to see and compare on the exhibition floor?
The exhibition brings together over 150 exhibitors spanning hydrogen production and electrolysis, renewable power, carbon capture and utilisation, compression, storage and handling, safety and instrumentation, engineering and EPC capability, mobility and fuel cell systems, port and bunkering infrastructure, testing, certification and advisory services. It allows a buyer to compare suppliers side by side over two days rather than evaluating the market one company at a time.
Which conference sessions are available to attendees?
The programme runs across three stages and a dedicated roundtable room: a Plenary Conference on policy, capital and national strategy; a Technical Conference for engineering and technology depth; sectoral sessions in The Arena covering fertilisers, shipping, refining, steel and mobility; and closed Leadership Roundtables. The agenda is shaped by a Strategic Advisory Committee that includes a former Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, a former Chairman of Indian Oil, the chairmen of the V.O. Chidambaranar and Deendayal Port Authorities, and the former Director for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells at the US Department of Energy.
Why does green methanol and green urea matter to visitors this year?
Because they widen the sourcing brief. Methanol and urea both require carbon dioxide alongside hydrogen, which is why SECI has begun quantifying India’s CO₂ sources for green methanol and urea production. Buyers who previously evaluated only electrolysers and renewable power now also need carbon capture, purification, CO₂ logistics, certification and bunkering partners. IGHA – Hyvolution India 2026 is the one place in the Indian calendar where those categories sit on a single floor.
